Allisable Fabric Shaver

Best Lint Remover for Furniture

You’re not alone if your furniture is covered with lint and hair. But thankfully, there is a super-effective way to remove that. For this job, we recommend the Allisable Fabric Shaver.

This product is made for a range of purposes, including sofas, curtains, sheets, blankets, duvets, and pillows. It can renew your fabric in three minutes without causing any damage.

What’s great is that it also works well on clothes, too! The three sharp stainless steel blades easily remove fabric fluff and lint, leaving you with gorgeous garments.

Customers have found the Allisable lint remover to bring new life to their furniture again. Not only has it removed lint, but it brings back a lovely softness to the fabrics.

The product comes with extra blades to compensate for the fact that you’ll use it on large areas. But even after using it on a whole couch, the first blade should still be going strong.

Personal Perspective

For those seeking a fabric shaver, this product offers a number of benefits. I found that it effectively removed lint balls and rejuvenated my garments, leaving them feeling like new. The inclusion of AC power and extra blades sets it apart from other, battery-operated alternatives. However, it may not be suitable for larger projects due to its smaller catch bin and power limitations.

Conair Fabric Defuzzer Battery Operated

Best Electric Lint Remover

The Conair Fabric Defuzzer is a popular choice if you’re looking for an electric lint remover. It safely removes lint, fuzz, and pilling from your clothes.

This device is full of cool features. For example, it has three different settings for depth control, so you can customize it depending on what fabric you’re shaving. The large shaving head makes it suitable for any surface, from socks to sofas.

The fuzz collector is detachable, making it super easy to remove the lint and empty the contents. Plus, the grip handle is comfortable, so you don’t have to worry about getting a sore hand.

The Conair requires AA batteries, so you don’t have the option of recharging the device when it’s dead. We think that’s a small price to pay because it works much better than your standard sticky lint roller.

Pros

  • Three different depth settings.
  • Large shaving head is suitable for big projects.
  • Comfortable and safe handle design.
  • Comes in six color options.
  • Works on clothing and furniture.
  • Removes lint, fuzz, and pilling.

Community Feedback

This fabric shaver exceeded my expectations in reviving my clothes and removing pilling from a variety of fabrics. The adjustable protective casing over the blade allows for trimming different fabric thicknesses, making it versatile and easy to use. However, the small lint container requires frequent emptying and the device does emit a slight burning smell during use. Despite these minor drawbacks, the rechargeable feature and effectiveness of this fabric shaver make it a worthwhile investment for refreshing worn garments.

Alwayslux EasyLint Professional Sweater Shaver

Best for Sweaters

The Alwayslux EasyLint Shaver is designed for sweaters. So if you wear sweaters a lot and hate to see lint and pilling all over them, then definitely check this lint remover out!

This product has a powerful motor, making it a treat to use. It removes lint and pilling perfectly from furniture and clothes but should not be used for rugs or pet hair.

This lint remover is most effective on wool, cotton, linen, and lycra clothing. One customer put it straight to use on their favorite sweater. Within five minutes, it looked good as new!

Pros

  • Works amazing on sweaters.
  • Powerful five-watt motor.
  • Comes with a storage case.
  • Suitable for clothes and furniture.
  • The blades are replaceable.
  • Extra-large shaving head and lint collector.

First-Hand Impression

Excellent product for rejuvenating old sweaters and other garments plagued by lint and pilling. This lint and pill remover is easy to use, and the results are impressive, making my clothes look new again. The only slight issue I encountered was the lint catcher being a bit difficult to empty, but using a small brush resolved the problem. I appreciate the fact that this product offers both AC power and battery options, as well as the availability of replacement blades on Amazon.

Evercare Mega Cleaning Floor Roller

Best Lint Roller Mop

The Evercare Lint Roller is fantastic because it functions like a mop. The sticky head is attached to a long handle so you can go around your house and lint roll everything. If you find your vacuum cleaner doesn’t quite pick up everything, then check this out.

It’s excellent for removing pet hair from clothes, furniture, and the floor. This is meant for collecting what a regular lint roller can’t. It has a large 10-inch lint pickup, whereas a standard lint roller only has four inches. We also love it for getting into places your vacuum cleaner can’t reach, like under the couch and behind the fridge.

When the lint roller is covered with debris, you can peel off the sticky sheet and throw it away. The roller comes with 25 sheets, but the refills contain 50 sheets, so you’re covered for a longer time.

However, this lint roller mop might not be for you if you’re trying to cut down on your waste.

Pros

  • Mop-style lint roller.
  • Must-have for pet owners.
  • Amazing stickiness.
  • Helps you get into hard-to-reach places.
  • 10-inch lint roller surface for quick clean-up.
  • Works inside the home, at work, or in the car.

Cons

  • Not a zero-waste product.
  • Super challenging to peel off the sticky sheet.

User Experience

I recently purchased this giant-sized lint roller to help manage the pet hair left behind by my three dogs and two cats. I've found that it works exceptionally well on various surfaces, such as my tufted fabric bed, Lifeproof wood laminate flooring, and even my collection of throw rugs. The strong adhesive is capable of picking up hair, dirt, and even small crumbs, making my weekly cleaning routine a breeze. However, I did find it a bit tricky to peel off the used sheets, but with practice, it gets easier. The roller is also quite durable, with a sturdy rolling system and a long handle for comfortable use.

Clothes Dryer Vent Cleaner Brush

Best for Tumble Dryers

Twenty-seven percent of dryer fires are caused by lint build-up (1). You must clean the lint filter after every load of laundry. Every. Single. One.

You should also clean the dryer duct monthly. We recommend using the Clothes Dryer Vent Cleaner Brush to clean out the dryer gap and exhaust port.

This handy little brush will help prevent fires in your home and keep your laundry routine as safe as possible. The thin design is excellent for cleaning out the vents, the pipes, and the gap where the lint filter goes.

But you can also use it for cleaning pet hair and dust from under furniture and tiny nooks around your house! In fact, this works great for sweeping away cobwebs.

Customers love this tool because it gives them peace of mind when cleaning their dryers.

Pros

  • Keeps your dryer safe.
  • Good for nooks and crannies around your house.
  • Flexible rod helps get into hard-to-reach places.
  • Great price point.
  • Works for sweeping away cobwebs.

Cons

  • Hard to clean the bristles.
  • Not practical if there is a large lint build-up.

Personal Perspective

If you're looking for an effective way to clean lint from your dryer, this product may be the solution. Personally, I found it to be quite efficient in removing lint from deep within the dryer, though I did require a vacuum to prevent lint from falling back down. While it would be nice to have an all-in-one vacuum attachment for this job, the gadget still gets the job done. This dryer vent brush is not only sturdy and well-suited for regular maintenance, but it also offers great value for the price. I even bought one for my son and daughter-in-law after seeing how much they needed it.

Gleener Ultimate Fabric Shaver

Best Portable Lint Remover

Need something you can keep in your bag or jacket pocket at all times? For that, we recommend the Gleener Ultimate Fabric Shaver. This tool is small, effective, and multipurpose.

It’s actually a 2-in-1 shaver and lint brush. This allows it to work on a vast range of fabrics.

The shaver side has three interchangeable heads. You can use it for cashmere, wool, cotton, fleece, acrylic, rayon, polyester, and more. Each edge is for a different use.

If you’re worried about safety, then the Gleener Ultimate can give you peace of mind. Even though it’s a shaver, it doesn’t use blades.

Instead, it uses abrasive edges. These exfoliate pills from fabric, safely removing any bumps and imperfections.

The good news is that it also works on furniture. You can use either side to effectively remove pet hair and lint from sofas, cushions, and chairs.

Pros

  • No batteries required.
  • Three heads for various types of fabrics.
  • Works on all fabric types and even furniture.
  • Removes small debris like pet fur, dandruff, and pilling.
  • Super gentle on delicate garments.
  • Ergonomic and comfortable handle.

Cons

  • Hard to clean the brushes.
  • Not effective if there is a large lint build-up.

Community Feedback

I'm impressed with how well this product works at removing lint and pilling from various fabrics, like my daughter's letterman jacket and even our polyester sofa. It does require a bit of time and effort to get the job done, but the results are worth it, and it doesn't damage the clothing. I appreciate the multiple head options it comes with, which makes it versatile for different fabric types. The only minor drawback is the placement of the release button, but once I adjusted my grip, it was smooth sailing.

Wellted Pet Hair Remover Brush

Best for Dog Hair

If you’re lucky enough to live with a fur baby, you’ll know the one downside: pet hair. Everywhere.

Thankfully, the Wellted Pet Hair Remover Brush can help. It’s designed specifically for pet hair.

This double-sided lint remover brush removes fur and lint twice as fast as a single-sided brush. It also has a self-cleaning base, so you don’t need to do much hard work at all.

You just slot it back into its base, and the pet hair is removed. You then empty the tank later. This reusable feature means this product will last for years.

This lint remover works on all pet hair, from dogs to cats, to horses! Pet owners have found that it works best on long-haired animals, such as golden retrievers, as opposed to small cats. That’s because the lint remover is best at picking up bigger pieces of debris.

We also recommend this product for furniture and carpets — clothes, too!

Pros

  • Reusable and cleanable surface.
  • Self-cleaning base included.
  • Designed for pet hair.
  • Super easy to swipe across fabrics.
  • Available in seven color options.
  • Works on all types of fabric and textiles.

Cons

  • Customers complain of the handle popping off.
  • Not as effective on smaller hairs.

First-Hand Impression

In my experience, this product does a decent job at removing lint and pet hair, but it has some design flaws. As a senior with limited arm strength, I found it very difficult to remove the brush from its holder. The product might be more suitable for those with pets, as it comes with extra accessories that I don't personally use.

Portable Manual Clothes Fuzz Shaver

Best Fuzz Shaver

This fuzz shaver is a good option, especially if you’re on the go a lot. It doesn’t require any batteries or recharging. It’s an old-fashioned type of lint remover with a wooden handle and a copper blade.

This product is very effective. It removes fuzz balls on clothes, furniture, bedding, curtains, couch, and even your car.

It is excellent for pet hair, crumbs, and lint. Plus, it won’t leave behind a sticky residue since it uses a classy copper blade.

We do recommend using this at different angles, depending on the fabric. For cotton sweaters, use them at a 90-degree angle. For wool cashmere, use at a 45-degree angle, and for wool or corduroy, use at a five to 10-degree angle.

Please Note

Do not use this fuzz shaver on loose wool, silk clothes, or low-density knitwear.

Pros

  • Good for traveling since it’s small and contains no batteries.
  • Suitable across a range of fabrics.
  • Long lifespan.
  • Comes in a pack of two.
  • Works on clothes, bedding, furniture, and the car.

Cons

  • Not okay for loose wool, silk clothes, or low-density knitwear.
  • May snag fabric.
  • Not safe for kids to use.

User Experience

After trying various dog hair removal products, this one has proven to be the most effective. However, I did notice that it can be a bit harsh on certain materials, such as knit fabrics and cloth auto seats, as it tends to remove microfibers along with the dog hairs. While it works well on carpets and pet furniture, I'd be cautious using it on more delicate surfaces, making it a great occasional tool for pet hair removal but not an all-in-one solution.

Schticky Lint Roller Washable

Best Washable Lint Roller

The Schticky Lint Roller is perfect for those who love a lint roller but want to protect the environment. Instead of tossing away sticky paper, you can just wash this lint roller when it’s dirty.

It uses a super-strong adhesive that can pick up even the smallest of dust particles.  When the roller is dirty or losing its stickiness, wash it to clean and reactivate the adhesion!

What does the Schticky lint roller work for? Pet hair, dust, cobwebs, and more. You can use it on clothes, carpets, beds, car seats, and furniture. It’s an all-around useful lint roller for any occasion.

In fact, we recommend keeping it in your bag so you can use it on the go and at home.

Pros

  • Reusable and washable lint roller.
  • Works on any fabric.
  • Cleans easily with water or in the machine.
  • Suitable for furniture and your cars, too.
  • Picks up large and small debris.
  • Eco-friendly solution.

However, I did encounter an issue with the long attachment not staying extended, which was slightly inconvenient.

What Causes Lint on Clothes?

Lint consists of tiny fabric fibers that stick to our clothes. So bits of wool might come off your sweater, but it will stick to the sleeves. This tends to happen during the washing and drying of your clothes.

When you wash your clothes, the water lifts off lint and dirt. But sometimes, it sticks to the clothes while they’re still wet. If you dry your clothes in the machine, it should suck the lint off and trap it on a lint screen. However, this isn’t always the case.

Lint sticks on clothes more often if there is a problem somewhere in your washing cycle. Some problems include:

  • You haven’t cleaned your lint filter recently: Lint screens or filters should be emptied after every cycle and cleaned regularly if necessary. A lot of modern washers have self-cleaning lint filters but check with the manufacturer’s instructions. It helps to run a cleaning cycle for your washer every month.
  • Your water pump filter is clogged: If this is the case, the rinse water will drain too slowly and leave lint on your wet clothes. Follow the instructions for your machine to clean this.
  • Your dryer vents and outside vents aren’t clean: Therefore, the airflow isn’t strong enough to remove lint. This can also cause a fire, so make sure these are always clean!

How Does a Lint Remover Work?

There are a few different types of lint removers, and they all work differently.

Electric Lint Removers

An electric lint remover is a battery-operated hand-held device. It uses a concealed blade to pick up lint, fuzz, hair, and pill from your clothes, similar to an electric shaver.

Lint Rollers

Lint rollers involve rotating sticky paper on a handle. You can roll them over your clothes to pick up lint and hair.

Fuzz Shavers

Fuzz shavers are also a popular option. They usually have a copper blade and tooth cutter, which effectively lifts away and removes lint.

Lint Brush

Lint brushes are made from a special fabric on a paddled brush. They reduce waste, are easy to use, and are super effective.

How To Choose the Best Lint Remover

When choosing your lint remover, consider these factors to find the one that suits you best.

Type

First, you’ll want to decide which lint remover you’ll choose. Electric lint removers are effective, but of course, they need to be charged to function.

Lint rollers are a common choice, and they’re easy to use, but they can also damage clothes.

Lint brushes are simple and effective but often a hassle to clean.

Fuzz shavers are very effective, but there’s nowhere to store the lint.

So while each type of lint remover has pros, they also come with cons.

Size

It’s important to choose the right size of lint roller. This is especially important if you’re on the move a lot.

One that fits into your bag or pocket is essential if you travel. Plus, don’t choose one with blades if you’re going on planes.

Features

You should study the extra features the lint remover might have. If you want something extra, consider going up a scale to one that might have a fancy handle, for example. Other extra features include speed settings, special blades, or a unique design.

Safety

If you have curious kids or pets around, this might sway your decision. For example, a fuzz shaver isn’t safe around kids because it has an open blade. Electric lint removers usually have protective covers, but we recommend choosing a lint brush if you have young ones nearby.

FAQs

How Do You Get Rid of Lint?

Here are some handy hacks:

  • A lint remover: That’s why you’re here, right? Lint removers are the easiest and most effective ways to eliminate lint build-up.
  • A dryer sheet: Dryer sheets are anti-static so that they can remove lint from your clothes. Rub the fabric with a single dryer sheet to remove fuzz.
  • Masking tape: When you’re in a pickle with no lint remover nearby, masking tape can work! Just wrap some around your fingers and dab it along your clothing to remove lint.
  • Air-only dryer cycle: If you have this setting on your dryer, use it to remove lint. Put the garments in the dryer and turn it on this cycle to go fuzz-free!
  • Wash clothes inside out: Washing clothes inside out helps reduce the amount of lint because it protects the garment’s outer layer.
  • Distilled white vinegar: Add a cup to your rinse cycle to remove lint. It will help remove lint from clothing and deodorize and soften your clothes.

How Do I Get Lint off My Lint Brush?

If you are using a lint brush, it’s not a pretty sight when it gets all covered in lint. But thankfully, these are easy to clean!

  1. Dampen a cloth with water.
  2. Rub the cloth over the lint brush, barely touching it. This will remove the big pieces of lint.
  3. Wrap masking tape around your fingers. Press down along the lint brush to pick up extra lint. This will lift debris.
  4. Continue until the lint brush is clean.

Are Lint Rollers Bad for Your Clothes?

Lint rollers aren’t our favorite things to use, partly because they can damage your clothes. The adhesive residue from the sticky paper actually transfers to your clothes. Of course, that makes the fabric even more attracted to lint because it’s now a little sticky!

How Do You Keep Lint off Black Clothes?

First, you could handwash your black items. Since the washer and dryer are the biggest culprits for creating lint, hand-washing rules that risk out.

You should also use dryer sheets whenever washing your blacks. Dryer sheets prevent clothes from gathering lint, so always include them when you can!

An anti-static spray will also come in handy if your black clothes attract a lot of lint. You should spray the clothes every week or so.

Lastly, we recommend using an electric lint remover! These are easy to use and do a great job. They don’t leave a sticky residue, so you can rest assured that once you’ve removed the lint, it won’t pick up loads more.

How Do You Remove Lint Without a Lint Remover?

We’ve already shared many tips for this, but here are some more!

  • A sponge: Dampen a sponge and rub it gently over the clothes to collect lint.
  • A rubber glove: Rub the clothes with a rubber glove.
  • A nylon stocking: Rub the clothes with a nylon stocking.
  • A vacuum: Use a vacuum cleaner to suck the lint away.
  • Air dry cycle: Put the item back in the tumble dryer for half an hour.
  • Pumice stone: Rub the clothes with a pumice stone.
  • A scouring pad: Dampen a scouring pad to gently rub away the lint.

With all these helpful tips, there’s no excuse for having lint on your clothes ever again!

Does a Lint Roller Pick up Dust Mites?

Lint rollers pick up dust, which contains dust mites. However, if you leave them covered in dust, you could attract more dust mites and make the issue worse.
